Our purpose-built re-refining plant has the capacity to mitigate an estimated 100,000 tonnes of carbon every year. This is the equivalent carbon saving of approximately 612,000 car trips from Auckland to Wellington, or taking nearly 40,000 cars off New Zealand’s roads.*

And that’s just the start. Re-refined base oil is estimated to have less than half the carbon footprint of virgin base oil made from crude*, helping reduce reliance on this finite global resource.

New Zealand's only truly sustainable solution for waste oil.

Currently (outside of Glide), waste oil in New Zealand is burnt as fuel — destroying valuable resources and releasing emissions into our atmosphere.

At Glide, instead of burning waste oil, we re-refine it - producing a premium, lower-carbon RRBO (re-refined base oil) that can be reused over and over.

Waste oil contains a range of components - around 70% of which is base oil. At Glide, we recover up to 99% of this base oil and return it to a high-quality product that can be reused indefinitely. The remaining 30% consists mainly of water, light cut, middle distillate and asphalt extender. Through our advanced refining process, these are also recovered and repurposed - ensuring almost 100% of waste oil is reused.
