We’re pleased to share that the next chapter of the Glide journey has now begun.
Our refinery, the first of its kind in New Zealand, has reached practical completion, and as you read this, we have entered the commissioning phase. This means that throughout April, we will begin turning waste oil collected here in New Zealand into new oil again for the very first time.
This is a significant milestone and delivers on what we set out to achieve, moving from a system where waste oil was burned, to one where it is continuously reused in a true circular model.
Having a supply of circular oil in New Zealand couldn’t have come at a better time. Due to the current war in Iran and the Global oil shortages, oils used for lubrication are also in very short supply. So rather than ending its life through burning, there is a greater need than ever before to properly recycle and make the old oil new again, so it can be used over and over.
We’d like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank our long standing customers for your ongoing support, and to warmly welcome the many new customers who have joined us in recent months. With our nationwide collection service now fully in place, we are proud to be working with businesses right across the country, including every Toyota branch from Kaitaia to Invercargill.
The response since launching Glide has been incredibly positive. More and more organisations are choosing to work with us because they want a professional collection service and a better environmental outcome, without any additional cost or complexity.
What this means for you and your customers:
- Waste oil will be re-refined, not burned
- Lower energy use and reduced carbon impact
- A practical, local circular solution you can stand behind
This is a strong story to share. If your customers value sustainability, they are already benefiting from this shift, and there is real value in making them aware of it. It could be that they require the carbon savings data for their sustainability reporting, or to win new business.
If you’d like any support communicating this, or would like to better understand the impact of your collections, please speak with your Glide representative or contact our customer services team. We are always happy to help.
We have included a few photos of the plant as it stands today, and we look forward to keeping you updated as we progress through commissioning.
Thank you again for being part of this journey.
Warm regards,
The Glide Team
